Early twentieth century American planning built elevated roads in many cities around USA. San Francisco teared it down and Boston buried it underground through tunnel project known as Big Dig. Seattle also its version along the waterfront, but the earthquake made clear the structure was vulnerable. After long debate, Seattle is working on to make expensive underground tunnel to replace viaduck.
